At Storytellers, we believe that every child and teen has a unique story to tell. Our approach to therapy is centered on:
Utilizing experiential techniques such as art, sand tray, books, games, and play. Elizabeth creates a predictable and consistent therapeutic environment with a compassionate and collaborative approach to help children actively participate in their appointments, build insight, and build healthy social-emotional skills.
Scheduled at a frequency that is clinically beneficial for the unique needs of each child and family, this service provides caregivers with an opportunity to meet with Elizabeth without their child present to discuss progress in therapy, goals for services, and parenting techniques that will support the child's continued progress.
As a trained licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, Elizabeth can provide family therapy services that involve all family members participating in the same appointment to build healthy communication skills, appropriate boundaries, healthy attachments, and clear support structures.
Utilizing a strength-based, compassionate, and collaborative approach the primary goal of this service is to assist clients in building their capacity to actively participate and engage in the creation of their treatment plan goals. While experiential techniques continue to be utilized there is additional emphasis on mindfulness, acceptance, and belief in personal abilities.
Parents and teens often ask about the confidentiality of this service. While there are legal requirements for confidentiality including the mandate to report a primary goal of the first session is to create a clear understanding of how confidentiality and parent involvement will be managed and maintained. Therefore it is highly encouraged that parents/caregivers attend the first part of the initial session. Elizabeth's goal is to address this so that there are clear and kind boundaries.

Caring for children can be complex and challenging. We all want to do our best to set our children up to be the healthiest versions of themselves that they can be. However, with so many conflicting messages provided through books and online material, it can be difficult for caregivers and parents to decide what steps they want to take. In providing this service Elizabeth’s goal is to meet you where you are at and help you identify caregiving/parenting skills to utilize that validate your cultural identification and family goals.
This service is provided both in the office and via HIPAA-secured Telehealth.
This service is not available to therapy clients.
